Contemporary self catering accommodation in Nuevo Portil *****

Restaurants

Since we have owned our villa we have seen a huge increase in the variety of restaurants and bars that offer a plethora of seasonal local fresh food. Naturally, being so close to the sea, fish and shellfish dishes are quite prominent. Below is a selection of our favourite restaurants along with our personal favourite dishes at the bottom.

Pleasant restaurant serving good cooked meats (presa was excellent) and home made chips About 10 minute walk from Casa Colon, eat either indoors or in shade outside. Service can be a bit slow.

Within walking distance of the villa this restaurant in El Portil offers interesting dishes using locally sourced ingredients often with an Asian twist. Open every day in peak season, weekends only during the rest of the year.

We sometimes stop here for a peaceful coffee after a walk. We have eaten there a couple of times too - they do really good burgers to eat in or take away. Haven't tried their Mexican food.

If you can catch it open, a really nice place to stop for a coffee or beer and enjoy the views over the Flecha. They also serve reasonable quality tapas.

Lovely spot (behind the Mini Golf) overlooking the Laguna d El Portil. Has wood-fired oven and does good pizzas (also take away), steaks and salads.

Located on the coast road between El Portil and Punta Umbria. Open every day all day through to sunset. Serves a variety of sharing plates and main dishes. A great place for a lazy lunch.

Botánica Comida Saludable, El Rompido

COMING SOON! Offering take-away sushi, pokes, salads and pintxos. Run by Oscar who used to run our favourite restaurant, Taberna La Botanica.

In El Rompido there are two restaurants; the original restaurant situated in the heart of the village, the other overlooking the marina in the El Faro centre (excellent for sunday lunches, although usually busy).. Excellent value typical tapas dishes with fast efficient service.

Slightly quirky restaurant but good food and good fun! Run by a local guy and his Colombian wife, serves local ingredients, usually with an asian or South American twist. We have also eaten superb Corvinata there.

The best (and dearest!) restaurant in the area, the chef Xanty Elías previously working at Huelva's only Michelin starred restaurant, Acánthum (now closed).

If in Huelva, this restaurant offers superb food using the best seasonal produce with probably the best service you'll ever get. We often visit the tapas bar at the front for lunch when shopping in the market. Best to get there by 1.00pm

Fashionable and much recommended by locals, Azotea is one of Seville's stable of modern eateries with culinary ambitions.
